There is nothing more appreciated by a college student than a helping hand along the way. At UT Pan American, that support often comes in the form of generous friends who make student financial assistance a focus of their philanthropy. The UTPA Foundation has always made scholarship fundraising a priority, and this has never been more important.

With diminishing state support for public universities in Texas, more of the burden to support the cost of a college degree is falling to the students and their parents. With most of UT Pan American’s 19,000 students requiring some type of financial aid, the support of the Foundation and its donor partners is essential to help them continue toward their degree. Here’s how you can help:

Scholarship gifts to the UTPA Foundation can come in one of two ways – as an annual gift that will be awarded in its entirety or as an endowment fund that will provide financial assistance in perpetuity. Both or needed…both are vital…both are very much appreciated by the Foundation Board of Trustees and especially by the students who will benefit from your generosity.

Minimum Gift

To create an annual, named scholarship $1,500 annually
To create an endowed scholarship  $10,000*

*May be paid out over five years.

Graduate Fellowships

Graduate students, who comprise more than 13 percent of the student population at UTPA, are critical to the academic success of the University. While working toward their master’s or doctoral degrees and helping to make advances in their own fields of study, they also can be found assisting faculty on research or teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. To be able to immerse themselves fulltime in their graduate studies, master’s and doctoral students at UT Pan American generally require financial assistance.

With government funding for graduate research and teaching assistantships dwindling, the UTPA Foundation seeks other partners – corporations, foundations and individuals – who will join the University in strengthening its research and teaching agenda by providing much-needed fellowships for its graduate students.

Master’s Level Minimum Gift

To create an annual, named fellowship $15,000 annually
To create an endowed fellowship

*May be paid out over five years.

Doctoral Level Minimum Gift

To create an annual, named fellowship $20,000 annually
To create an endowed fellowship $400,000*

*May be paid out over five years.
