The much anticipated – and oft-delayed – renovation of the University’s fine arts facilities will soon get underway after construction of a nearly $42.7 million Fine Arts Academic and Performance Complex was approved by The University of Texas System Board of Regents on August 25, 2011.

Theresa BarreraVice Chair, UTPA Foundation Board Theresa Barrera, who rose from part-time cashier at Sam's Club to become a top executive at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., sent a strong message of empowerment to hundreds of young girls and their mothers during HESTEC's Latina Day Sept. 28. Her message: "Dream big." Barrera stressed the importance of having an education, trusted mentors and parental support. |
